Personality and temper.

* Maddy is a Northern Folk.
(Folks are like half-youkai-half-human beings. Or simply half-gods. They are far from being invulnerable and are not immortal, but their lives last long.)
Folks like her lie in the pile now, largely forgotten. But there are some who still wield power. Whatever. Fire burns, that's its nature.

She is naughty. She was among those who always received coal for Christmas. She mostly made friends with boys. She grew strong, naughty and angry.

She is polite and respectful most of the time, and it doesn't matter whom she talks to, but still her naughty self will burst out from the inside in jokes, smirks and glances.
Can act sarcastically with those whom doesn't like. But will stand for a real friend till the end.

She doesn't like noisy places and parties. You can easily find her in a library on weekends or trying new runes under the tree in a park or in a training room (when it's drizzling outside. She hates when it is drizzling outside.)
She quite often comes back hurt, 'cos she went somewhere/tried something/met something and more. She doesn't like to hurt the others, when they are just partners, so she will act carefully in sparrings. It doesn't mean she will allow to hurt her, tho.
She hates violence and rape, and will try to help as long as she can.

She likes to meet new people, but hangs with fellows mostly. She is an easy-going and cheerful person, but she doesn't allow to approach her easily. She doesn't tell much about herself, so most of the facts are about present public events. She has her own secrets and keeps it safe deep inside.

She gets excited about experiments and risks they are surronded with.

Misc.
Her umbrella is connected with magic. That's why it's so old and shabby.
Has marks on the back sides of her arms.
She has a strong body, but wields no martial arts. She will use Runes mostly.

Backstory.
She grew in the North far from warm sun and cheerful warmth.
Winters there are strong. Sun is cold. Days are short.
And there are Northern Lights, a magic substance wavering in the black cup of the sky.
She noticed some extra-abilities in childhood. Tried to hide them, but was too eager to try them out and use.

Had low grades at school, most of the time spending in skerries and boats and in an old abandoned temple. She fished under the ice, drew spells on stained-glass windows of the temple and brought a storm lantern there. She spent endless long evenings draeming, trying spells (that time she didn't know they were Runes) and watched the Northern Lights high above the endless starlit sky.

She attended an ordinary school for girls until once went to explore and found a strange mansion in the skerries near the very fjord. She nosed everything. It was like a line daring to cross it. It was like a new world.
It was a school for wizards.

The problem was that the school was for boys.

But it was too good a chance to miss. So she managed to penetrate inside (following spiders). The new, unexpected world filled with scentic spells and restricted books and mysterious symbols overflowed her. So she stole some clothes from someone's locker. She was too small for a boy and the clothes were too big for her, but no one seem to reveal she was a girl. She gave a fake name and a fake class — the only class she knew by the time - and managed to attend some lections. She made fellowship with some student boys. She hanged at the school neighbourhood most of that time. Now she could move on.
She grew reckless, she was a tresspasser, a rebel, a liar. It fitted her temper. All she had ever done was a little risky, of course.
But a hell of a show.

Once there was a small accident after school when she and some fellow boys went to try their luck at some rural area at the Forest-of-sick-mist. It was told to be a place of mystery, fear and legend. It was high on a list of strongly forbodden places. It was too daring not to go there.
Luck turned into fate.
They got lost, a compass didn't work there and the Tapa Rune, the direction, didn't seem to work too. But there were shadows. Thousands of hungry shadows. That time she really got scared to death. They strained themselves to breaking point trying to break loose from the forest's grip. Breathless, knee-deep in the faintly blue mist, Maddy sorted out all the runes she knew up to the moment with a brave sense of saying something fatal. She heard the boys' messy cantrips behind her back and shimmering flashes, that kept evanishing in the dark the every next moment.
She collected all the power she still had left and casted Palo, a fire rune. The flash of burning fire flickered off the rune, lighting the bare trees and suddenly faded away back into the pale-blue mist. The shadows grew stronger, it got worse, if possible. There was a mistake, but she realized it too late.
Breathess, she fell on her knees, catching at slippery bark of trees. She realized, that they could do nothing to help themselves.
She was sinking into faint when the flicker of shimmering blue light came from the deep of the dark and after it - a dense rain. There was a tall man who casted Sateen, the rain rune, to lower the eternal mist and drive the shadows away. But he gained just a little time. Maddy could almost feel the dense shadows climbing from the dark, hungry, ruthless, awaken.
The man carefully touched her shoulder and forced a smile: «Are you okay?» She smiled back with a faint nod, feeling the mighty powerful rune overflow around them after the cantrip of the man. Everything dispersed into a light warm cloud, leaving the forest far behind. Weightlessness lifted her, she lost orientation of directions and let the spell surround her.

She found herself lying on the ground near a campfire. Her clothes were still wet after the rain. She was frozen to the bones. She was scared. She looked around trying to find the others — the boys and the man who saved them, but she was alone. She managed to stay alive, but didn't know what exactly happened to the others. She climbed shakily on her feet. She was on a hill with a city lights far below.
She was not in the North any more.
It was a different place.

After some time passed, she found herself at the Otherworlde purlieus. Up to the moment she had heard about some runes, but wield just few with some unstable once in reserve. So she decided to move in.
It might be a little risky, of course.
But all the same, a hell of a show.

Beware! I'm about to invent the story further.

Likes
Cute clothes: knitwear, hoodies, scarves, fur, hoods, vests.
She actually likes knitting. (She believes, that it calmes nerves. Haha.)
Likes experiments.
Has a wicked affinity with spiders.
She likes to listen more than to speak.
To disappear into a bathroom for good two-three hours.
She alters her clothes from time to time (depending on her mood).
Colors: black, crimson/rotten cherry, grey, yellow.
Boats. She grew near the ocean and boats are like something you love and cannot live without.
She likes reading in general, but books about magic, herbs, potions and also ghost stories will do the best.
She is addicted to sweets and cacao.
She likes hearthes with fire, storm lanterns ans umbrellas.
Snow, sun and cold. Winter is the fav season.

Doesn't like
Being pressed and pushed
Getting angry.
Traitors, arrogance, ignorance, boasting and showing off.
To explain. To talk a lot (for ex, when she has to handle a long-long monolog, especially with explanations).
Getting wet. Getting cold. To have no warm clothes on when it's cold.
Meat.
Syntetic materials.
Dirty clothes (despite it doesn't bother her in the middle of the fight)
Holidays. She'd better have one unexpectedly, than trying her best to have fun when someone decided you have to.
Hysterics.
Cooking food. She'd rather cook some poison potions or herbal infusions instead.
Drizzling weather, esp the windy one. Extreme heat.
Being pinned down to anything.
Rules.

Fears
She is actually afraid of everything unknown, but after a short fight with herself she will go and examine it.
Loosing control
to hurt someone unintentionally.
Sometimes darkness.
Butterflies.

School, goals, strengts and weaknesses.
Eager to learn more and more. Likes learning everything new, especially runes you can fight with, herbs you can heal with, potions you can use in-between.
In learning she get by easily most of the time, sometimes even with rough tasks. Despite she is not very patient, she can collect all her patience to spend it on smth long-lasting, hard and important. She is attentive. Sometimes it looks like she doesn't listen or pay attention, but it is not like that. She collects lots of information and eager to practice whenever she finds it suitable. She is afraid of unplanned hurting people, so she will try new skills on something still first to watch how it works and learn to wield it at least a little before trying it with other students.
She will try and try again and again and even annoy everyone who was so unwary to suggest her help.
She likes to explore, so you'd better not to forbide doing anything to her. It won't work anyway. No words or signs or promises of punishment will reassure her if she decided to go/do smth. She wants to learn, that's it. But you can draw her a company and guard her — the best way to help her in such a situation.
It doesn't matter whether smebody praices her. What is more important — is to wield what she keeps learning.

Chatroom and RP
I'll try to be there as often as I'll be able to manage. Books and spells keep Maddy busy (to be true, my work keeps me), she can't promise every-day-online. But I will try my best.
Whatever, you can note me if interested.

How did you find :iconotherworlde:?: :iconleaglem:.

RP-samples .
Script.
This place is so creepy great... Maddy* walks through endless passeges with a map in her hands. She feels these familiar needles pricking her fingertips. Needles of excitement. Her eyes are hidden under the enormously big hood of her vest, so no one can see the inner shine of purple. No one seems to wander around, though. So she walks, hazily touching antient bricks of walls, feeling lost in time and surprisingly light. *
*She nears a cavern. The ceiling here is soared away into shadow, and only the dim light of rare chandeliers, that hang on long chains low to the floor, illuminates the cavern.*
*All of a sudden she realizes, that she can hear faintly discernible voices. Instinctively, she throws herself back for the safety of the passageway. Her heart is beating fast now. Carefully, holding the wall and deep safety of the shade, she looks out. She can see now distant silouettes, blurred in the steam of candles.*

Paragraph
The main hall was nearly empty at this time with just few students resting at a hearther. The air was steamy with soot and full of herbal fumes. Maddy neared the grand front doors, followed by the echo of her footsteps. The thick wood of the doors was covered with wrinkles and gaps, and the latches were threadbare with time. The copper handles reflected the dim shimmering light of thousands of candles.
She reached the doors wondering whether she could open it herself, and pushed the door.
«C'mon....» she muttered, shouldering the door.
The door opened with a mighty skirr, into a small gap, enough to force her way through. The faintly blue moonlight fell on her face, and the fresh, cool wind disheveled her hair. She went into the dark, carrying a storm lanternd in her hand. She removed the glass lampshade and casted Kipinän, an easy fire rune to lit the fire in the lamp. A warm yellow light began to dance, throwing reflexes on her clothes and face.
She fixed the lampshade and, looked up, met eyes of a stranger, dressed all in black.
